Bioenergetic Therapy activates essential body functions, such as breathing, movement, feeling, and expression. BT helps to release chronic muscular tensions that have become structured in the body—a necessary step in overcoming feelings, behaviors, and attitudes that detract from life.

Most individuals are unconscious of the physical handicaps that they struggle with—handicaps that have become second nature to them, habits in their day-to-day world. This results in restricted allotments of energy and healthy emotions. BT helps the body recognize its ability to heal itself and promotes that process.

**What inspired you to practice Acupuncture and Traditional Herbal Medicine? **

I grew up in a matriarchal family that practiced and relied on traditional herbal medicine as preventative medicine as well as a first line of defense. As a young child, I would make regular trips to the traditional herbal pharmacy with my mother and grandmother. I became fascinated and mesmerized as my mother and grandmother called out the names of various herbs. At the same time, an herbal pharmacist would scale across a ladder to navigate the high ceiling walls packed with small wooden drawers and glass jars filled with dried herbs. These early trips to the herbal pharmacy planted the seeds that were watered throughout my life and brought me to this path. As my matriarchal grandmother was in her last chapter of life, I was honored to care for her and support her with herbal medicine. My grandmother realized that I had a connection and gift for working with herbal medicines and asked me to take every opportunity that I had to keep studying herbal and traditional medicine so that I could share my gift to help others. I feel tremendous gratitude that my grandmother lit the way for me to walk this path that aligns seamlessly with my life passion of promoting ecological balance and inner wellness.

What drew you to your specialty? I had eczema as a baby and was diagnosed as lactose intolerant by time I started grade school. Chronic low-grade inflammation and physical discomfort were normalized for nearly half of my life. Doctors and physicians had been dismissive of my inflammation and pain and rather than helping me address the root of my issues, they gave me a band-aid and simply prescribed me medicated drops to take whenever I ate dairy. As a young person, health professionals dismissed my joint pain as “growing pains” that I never seemed to grow out of. As an adult, I later developed rare but severe allergies that went undiagnosed for nearly 10 years—meanwhile the ongoing chronic inflammation triggered various common health issues such as dysmenorrhea, indigestion, joint pain, mental stress and skin issues. After being diagnosed with food allergies, I realized that strict allergy avoidance was still not enough to maintain health and wellness. When the body is compromised, we must work to support our deficiencies and address issues of stagnation and constitutional imbalances to reclaim our wellness, and mitigate future flare-ups and the severity of accidental exposures. My life experiences dealing with various common and rare health issues has fueled my passion for helping others also reclaim their wellness though a comprehensive approach to balancing and harmonizing though acupuncture, traditional body work and herbal medicines.
